A "STEP" UP!

spring luncheon

Our Sixth Annual LifeSavers Luncheon and Fashion Show was a smashing success! Our theme was "Stepping Out", and that is just what we did! Everyone enjoyed shopping at the Shoe and Bag Bazaar, which was followed by a delicious lunch and excellent program. At this time, it looks as if we met our financial goals due to proceeds from the luncheon and a very generous donation from Andy and Joan Horner.

Of course, an event of this size takes a great deal of work and planning. Special thanks go to Mari Middleton (our newest board member) who handled the Raffle, to Judy Adams and Brenda Gammill who managed the Bag and Shoe Bazaar, to Maxine Dudley and Barbara Boren for the fabulous centerpieces, for Charm Barrett and Alice McKinnon Newland for the outstanding fashion show, and for Ripple Terrell and Alice Christian for seating arrangements. Also a special thanks goes to Phomas Ewell, Director of Operations, and our newest store manager in Irving, Will Esker, for their numerous trips from the Resale Store to the Belo Mansion. Also, thanks to every board member, who so generously gave of their time, energy and resources. Holly Collie's story of her journey from being an abortion minded woman to a pro-life mom of 13 was a powerful message. Truly, we are all "partners in the gospel."

LifeSaver's 2nd Newsletter - July 2009

Text Box: Tidings From Upscale Resale Cassie Grymes, our faithful EBay Assistant, is leaving the Upscale Resale stores effective August 1, 2009. She graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas in May and has been hired to be a full-time teacher at the Winfrey Academy in Lewisville. Cassie has been a blessing to the store, and we are going to miss her! Phomas Ewell, Director of Operations at the resale stores, has announced the hiring of two new employees: Patricia Mitchell and Rick Wilson. Patricia will be our new EBay Assistant in Richardson. Rick will be at the Irving store and, effective September 1st, will open the store on weekdays at 9:00 a.m. instead of 11:00 a.m. Please welcome our new employees when you come by either store. Phomas appointed Betty Jones, a long-time Richardson store employee, to spearhead a fashion show with the Women’s Club of Richardson. Several of the club members came to the store and picked ensembles to model at the July meeting. Betty’s job was to tell the members about the history of the Foundation and the resale stores. Betty’s hard work on this project was rewarded with club members arriving to shop at store after the event, many of whom had never been there before. THANK YOU, BETTY!
